Instructor: George Epps is the President of Epps and Assoc., Inc., a Dallas based adjusting company. He has adjusted claims for over twenty-five years. He was a property instructor at Insurance Technical Training Institute for three years. He taught a property licensing course at Leonard's Training Programs for ten years. He was director of property training at IES for two years. Mr. Epps brings a teaching perspective from a claims point of view, rather than from a constructions point of view. Property Estimating: The one week class is designed for outside adjusters/appraisers charged with writing residential property and catastrophic loss appraisals. The course is designed to also benefit supervisors and inside adjusters, who preview and examine estimates prepared by others. The emphasis of this course is to teach the student to adjust a loss, not to build a house. No prior building construction knowledge is necessary. Classes are located conveniently to Dallas-Ft Worth DFW International Airport, restaurants, shopping malls and an assortment of recreational facilities. Discount lodging is available to all EITP students. Class sizes are limited to 12 students to insure the quality of training. To register please download the course application and fax to office (972) 492-3743. |
Course Contents: The class is designed to help the student recognize damages, determine the causes and write an estimate. Teaching aids include state of the art projection technology with digital images, Power Point Presentations with complete descriptions and detailed analysis of construction techniques along with descriptive handouts. The major construction parts of a home are discussed relating to damageability and methods of repair. Digital images of real claim damages are shown with each part. The presentation also show actual covered claim damage and damages that are from maintenance or other problems. The student is taught to recognize the difference between probable covered damages and other damages. We teach a real life approach to claims adjusting, rather than a theoretical approach. Throughout the class the students write estimates based on various causes and types of damages. The damages are shown on digital images and are from actual insurance claims. The estimates are reviewed and discussed. The material taught in this 1 week class, does more to instill confidence and ability in the student than that taught in many 2 week courses from other schools. When a student graduates from EITP, he or she should have the confidence and ability to go into the field alone and do a claim.
